Whilst growing up in beautiful Uganda, the culture and values embedded the traditions of loving and supporting your neighbour and an ‘open door’ – especially when food was involved.
Following the tragedy of Grenfell, the Community Cookbook ‘Together’ that was endorsed by the Duchess of Sussex, was lunched and Kina Mama was born!
Kina Mama is Swahili for ‘the mothers’, the language of East Africa. As East Africa is influenced by Arabia and India, the food is motivated by the authentic fusion of traditional and modern East Africa. Our Supper Club embodies the union of like-minded food lovers in an intimate casual environment. Our Supper Club events continuously change in nature and are focused on bringing together individuals who share a mutual love of enjoying food with purposeful conversation. We create a dining experience that encourages inclusiveness and bonding through food and love.
Proceeds go towards supporting Kina Mama’s local community of mothers so that ‘no mother feels alone’ especially in the challenging world we live in today.
Our menu consists of 12 amazing dishes! This includes crispy veg samosas stuffed with green peas that I used to grab from the street stalls whilst coming back home from school. I loved them! Steamed green Banana ‘Matoko’ in banana leaves served with creamy spinach and peanut butter sauce. All dishes are suitable for vegetarian and vegan apart from one chicken dish (halal).
My passion for cooking and love for uniting hearts has led me to this amazing opportunity to share my love of food with you . Please do join us on our journey that supports a beautiful community.
Please bring containers to take extra food home !
